Last night, 11-28-2012, at approximately 8:40 pm, police officers were sent to the intersection of West Olney Road and Colonial Avenue for a male standing in the road with what appeared to be a shotgun. Once officers arrived, it was determined that in the 400 block of Fairfax Ave a victim was assaulted with what looked like a shotgun. A perimeter was established around the last known location of the suspect. When the suspect was spotted and challenged by the officers, he fled on foot away from Fairfax Avenue. He was taken into custody by pursuing officers behind a nearby church. The weapon used was also recovered and was determined to be an air soft gun with plastic pellets, not a shotgun.
The police received good communication and details from witnesses and residents and responded very quickly. The assistance was key to the successful coordination of and resulting arrest. Thank you for everyone’s help with this serious matter.
