Kick off Ghent’s Holiday Open House Weekend with the Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday, November 30. Join your friends from the Ghent Business Association for a family friendly event to help spread the holiday spirit throughout Ghent. Meet in front of Blair Middle School on Friday, November 30 at 6:30pm for caroling and the annual Ghent Tree Lighting Ceremony. The festivities will kick off as members of Bike Norfolk, dressed in festive attire, along with area church choirs, bike and march down Colley Avenue. Enjoy music from area churches and school groups. Warm up with hot chocolate and cookies provided by East Coast Bicycles. Get creative with “make & take” crafts sponsored by Kitsch. And, there will be a special appearance by Santa Claus as he helps light the tree. Don’t miss the fun!
The Christmas tree will be extra special this year as it will have Angel Tree Tags provided the Salvation Army. Help make a child’s holiday special by taking a tag and purchasing a gift for a child in need. Gifts will be collected at Garden Gazebo, 729 West 21st Street.
This event is for all ages! Come early or stay late and enjoy music from street performers along Colley Avenue before and after the event. Don’t forget to make a reservation to dine with friends or family at one of Ghent’s delectable restaurants afterwards for a complete evening of festive fun.
