The City of Norfolk is hosting a citizen flood awareness meeting on Thursday, November 29, 2012 from 6:30 to 7:30 pm at the Norview Recreational Center located at 6380 Sewells Point Road. You and your guests are invited to join our conversation to address the issue of flooding in our city. This comprehensive plan consists of four key strategies; plan, prepare, mitigate and communicate.
For this meeting, Norfolk will focus on communications, information and mitigation tools. Jim Redick, Norfolk ’s Director of Emergency Preparedness and Response, will review Norfolk ’s preparations and actions during Hurricane Sandy as well as FEMA mitigation grants. Lori Crouch, Norfolk ’s Public Relations Director, will introduce our City’s communications toolbox for residents. Afterward, City staff will update residents on new Army Corp of Engineer initiatives along with an update on legislative strides the City is undertaking.
We appreciate your commitment to our City and value your input as a resident and stakeholder. As such, we hope you will join us at this meeting as we share information and encourage discussion regarding this vital concern. Please RSVP by November 27th if you will be attending so we can plan appropriately. Send your acceptance or any questions to Fleta Jackson at firstname.lastname@example.org or via phone at 757-823-4007.
