Please note that on Saturday, Oct. 29th from 6:00 to 10:30 p.m., the “Survive Norfolk” zombie-themed race chase game will again proceed through a portion of the Ghent neighborhood. This game is sponosred by “Survive Norfolk” and will be played in the same general Ghent area as last year’s game, north of Princess Anne Rd. The game is organized by Ms. Whitney Metzger with coordination through the City of Norfolk. Local charities benefitting from the proceeds of this year’s game are: The Hope House, Lee’s Friends, D’Art Center and the Hermitage. For safety purposes, please note that at 5 pm, the following streets will be closed to through traffic but will remain open to local access only (local access defined as local residents getting back and forth to their homes): Llewellyn and Colonial between 21st Street and Princess Anne Rd. and 20th Street between Granby and Colley Avenue. These streets will re-open to all by 11 p.m.All other streets will be unaffected.“Survive Norfolk” will employ at least 12 Norfolk Police Officers as well as many monitors along the game route to ensure a safe night for all residents and participants. As stated during Ms. Metzger’s presentation to the GNL, participants will be advised to stay off private property and remain in public areas only. Residents may also “rope off” their properties if they desire, as long as that does not restrict public right of way. Please see the game’s website, SurviveNorfolk.com for additional information and a forthcoming map of the exact game area, as well as an attached letter from Survive Norfolk. Survive Norfolk will also hand deliver the letter to homes along the streets marked for closure. The Ghent Neighborhood Leagues wishes all residents and participants a safe and enjoyable evening.
