Crime Report – Crime report provided by new officer Jason Gauthier – please be aware of holiday season, special police detail during holiday season in the business district. 4 larcenies to cars – gps, tools, & 2 wallets & purses/ 1 stolen vehicle/ 1 larcenies to bike/ 2 vandalism’s /1 mannequin
Board Member Smith comments – concern in lack of data collected and how this can be used for responding and lack of calls for small items,
Officer Gauthier response – Reminded that all calls need to be made in order to have action taken.
Board Member Murphy – Inquired about implementing reverse 911.
Board Member Conde –asked how to contact Officer Gauthier,

Treasurer’s Report – new savings acct for PayPal $50 , general acct. balance is $10569.24 – approved 100% by board
Ghent Task Force Report – no meeting, next dec 4
Historic and Architectural Preservation Committee (“HAPC”) Report – Worked with Freemason about designated uses, came to a conclusion that HAPC accepted most items, except G1. HAPC has recommended that new private elementary schools could be allowed under special exceptions.
Pending Planning and Planning Commission Items
Zoning: HAPC recommendations regarding use tables going before planning commission and then council.
RLUIPA – GNL has not taken an official position and the GNL did not start discussion about this.
– Board Member Murphy – Impact of Big House church – not pursuing any complaints until the updates are made then they will pursue complaints.
Design Review: 601 Raleigh Ave – driveway & paint building
Planning Commission – nothing
Yarmouth COA Appeal – postponed
Walgreen’s ABC Application – current status – newspaper publicized that all Walgreen’s would be putting in ABC apps, as of last week none has been submitted for the one located on 21st St and Colley Ave
Motion – GNL should wait till a application to be filed to respond/communicate. – 9 yes & 1 abstain

Saturday is grand illumination – its 25th celebration, check out city photo of 25 yrs.
Thursday – Nauticus – Check out the new pirate exhibit.
Traffic – Hampton Blvd. – At the end of November or early December the fly over from Hampton Blvd. to Brambleton Ave will be closed from 3 – ?pm(unknown at time) as a test to see if it helps with traffic, it will be open to trucks,
Net Buses in Ghent – The HRT contract came in over priced, on hold while they review the costs.
Homeless – Seeing a increase in numbers. Continues to be a major problems and remain unresolved. Idea of a central area for NEST, but not seeing any headway towards that direction. Feels enforcement is needed, for example benches on Colley Ave – are working on finding a solution of the homeless taking over benches.
Spotswood Parking Lot – Near completion mid this month/November.
City construction will be suspended for holiday season to easy access for shoppers and visitors near Mac Arthur Mall.
Question – Light Rail – concerned about the people getting to light rail in our community.
– Response – pedestrian crosswalks will be helpful
Board Member Spencer – Suggested the use of NET bus to connect community to get people to the Light Rail.
Question – Granby Towers & convention progress – Worried over all about the developers and property not succeeding, feels there has to be a better way to make sure projects get done and not allowed to fall apart.
Question – Current status of Union Mission reallocation as the time line has past.
Response – Unknown about when the dorms will open at new location on Military Hwy.
Question – Crosswalks – Ghent Dog Park – concern about a crosswalk @ Princess Anne and Colonial.
Question – Bulk pick-up from aftermath of Noreaster Storm.
Regular schedule waved – going to canvas all areas due to storm for next 30 days – info on city website.
GBA Report – no meeting since last, next this thursday
– holiday open house – has 5 houses on its tours
