|Following a recent open invitation, mailed to Ghent residents and those of Ghent Square, the church of Christ and St. Luke’s at the corner of Olney Road and Stockley Gardens will hold an open house on its proposed expansion plans. The event is held between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the church sanctuary.
The church proposes to demolish the two adjacent buildings it owns and to replace them with a modernistic, three-story glass enclosed structure that will face Stockley Gardens (for more details on the church’s plan, please see the Categories Menu on this Web site).
Attending the event will be the architect and members of the church’s building committee.
The Ghent Neighborhood league, which does not support the plan, is most concerned about the demolition of the existing buildings, the design of the new building and the church’s lack of parking.
