In May 2004, a “Dog Park” committee, created after the league’s April meeting, provided details of a proposed fenced-in dog park in the 1400 to 1600 block of Stockley Gardens. The area currently is a city-designated dog park. Committee members said that a fence around it would provide a secure place for running dogs and give them and their owners a place to socialize. Additional planned features include lidded trash receptacles, a fountain, a “doggie” gate, a sandbox for digging and more lights — but no benches. Concerns about the plan include policing of the area. The board is interested in residents’ input will not take a vote on the proposal until the committee’s final report.
