April 2013 GNL Meeting Agenda

Please mark your calendars for our April GNL meeting to be held on Wed., April 10 @ 6:30 p.m. at The Williams School. In additon to regular GNL reports, our April GNL draft agenda will include the following:

- City approval and process to change existing zoning to allow for Therapeutic Massage in 21st St PCO district: Dr. Dan Neumann, City of Norfolk Planning Commission Member
- GBA feedback on this change to existing zoning, Mr. Ted Warren, GBA member
- GNL elections committee
- Ghent Neighborhood Project updates: Westover Ave. (former Cox Funeral Home and Chapel) and 502 Pembroke (proposed garage, curb cute,etc)
- Street Sweeping update
- Historic Garden Week day in Ghent
- GNL May neighborhood clean up and social

February 2013 GNL Meeting Agenda

Please mark your calendars for our upcoming Feb. GNL meeting, to be held WED., Feb. 13th at 6:30 p.m. at The Williams School, located on Fairfax Avenue in the Hague Section of Ghent.  (As you know, GNL meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month).
 
You are cordially invited to join us to hear the following new proposals and neighborhood developments:
 
Proposed City of Norfolk “Arts District“ information and discussion session on proposed arts district vision, location, timelines, design and implementation.  This proposed arts development area  would serve as a link between Ghent and Downtown -  Mr.  Jesse Scaccia, spokesperson
 
Proposed City of Norfolk re-write of Historic Area guidelinesincluding:  proposed new fees, review board, procedures and other details.  Please ensure your voice is heard on this important matter and also join the GNL in attendance at the City’s upcoming Historic Architectural Presercation (HAPC) meeting on Feb. 20th, with more details to follow.   Your feedback is appreciated as we draft a neighborhood response to these proposed changes, which as mentioned previously, were developed without GNL notification.
 
Update:  Proposed Towne Bank project, former site of BP Gas Station (corner of Westover Ave. and Colley Ave).
 
Update:  Stockley Gardens Improvement Project
 
Update:  HRT’s revised bus route through Ghent
 
Update:  Street sweeping and enforcement signage
 
…in addition to the monthly Norfolk Police Department security updates, GNL committee updates and upcoming Ghent events, including Ghent’s exciting Garden Week as well as more info on the proposed Sea Level Music Festival  (proposed for April 4th).
